Custom Design Questions:Q: Is there a limit on what you can build? A: Normally not, but complicated problems may take longer than others. To find out for sure if we can design your circuit, just email us. We respond quickly and enjoy a challenge. We primarily provide electronic design solutions including, microcontroller software development, computer programming, circuit design, PCB design and production, and a full design-prototype-mass production service. Q: Is there a minimum quantity of units I must buy? A: No! Since there is a one time design fee, buying more than one is beneficial, however. Q: How long must I wait for a quote? A: Usually within 24 hours of submitting your design idea. If we are unable to accurately measure the cost to implement your design within 24 hours (occasionally applies to more complicated designs) we will e-mail you a period status report. Usually we work with you over to solve any problems you may still be having before giving you a quote. Q: After paying the charges for the design, how long will it take for me to receive my completed prototype? A: It entirely depends on the complexity of the design. More complicated designs will take longer to produce. Expect between 1 - 6 months. Currently we are available to take requests. Requests are completed on a first come first served basis. We only work on a couple of projects at a time to keep our attention directed. Q: What are typical costs for this service? A: Costs can vary widely. I've designed spectacular circuits for less $500.00 USD. But, the truth is, it varies. There may be specific technically difficulties which can affect the price. A free quote is your easiest way to find out the design cost and usually only takes a day or so for a response. We base prices on the estimated amount of time it will take to complete and general difficulty involved in creating it. A project involving a full design service (meaning the design and production of a prototype circuit board and manufacturing setup) can cost around $2,000 - normally less than $5,000...even for a very complicated project. We're probably the cheapest electronic design service in the world. Q: Do you make chips? A: First, by chips we mean integrated circuits, which are not entire circuit boards, this is a common misunderstanding. We do not fabricate ICs or work with silicon wafers, but we do program various types of microcontrollers. Designing a project around a microcontroller allows for easy and cheap revisions simply by changing the software (firmware). Occasionally customers only want a programmed microcontroller and documentation to do it themselves, but often people want a full solution including a fully assembled PCB circuit board.
